The Cost Controller (m/f/d) role will further develop our product costing system to facilitate senior management to make decisions. This position will research, compile, analyze and interpret data and help to define direct labor, material, and production costs.
Overall Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Calculate and define direct labor, material and production costs and apply those costs to SKU’s on a case-by-case basis.
- Identify and clarify opportunities for cost control and reduction.
- Establish value of the inventory as it changes with market fluctuations.
- Investigate fluctuations in cycle counts.
- Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research, and perform analytical studies in regard to cost analysis and profitability.
- Review standard and actual costs for variances and report variances to the executive for decision-making purposes.
- Provide margin and break-even analysis and analyze capital budget requests.
- Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly and quarterly gross margin analysis.
- Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation and roll forward.
- Coordinate with the IT Department for systems issues, maintenance and development.
- Maintain and update internal control documentation.
Competencies and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent progressive career experience
- 2-5 years of experience in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment
- Strong cost systems background
- Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret marketing, financial, sales, marketing and product data
- Ability to analyze and reconcile inventory
- Experience with ERP software.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and collaborative skills.
- Expert skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with engineering, purchasing and production departments to gather data.
- Fluent in German and English.
